Label Ritu Kumar brought breezy 'hip hop baroque' trends to LFW

Mumbai, Jan 31 (IBNS): Get set for street couture and rap culture from Label Ritu Kumar’s’ “Hip Hop Baroque” collection presented with a lot of vim and vigour at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 for the coming season.

There were colours and prints mixed in vibrant hues and patterns and there were 90’s DIY punk directions that will appeal to the young swinging dressers.

Also, fashion must watch out for a shade card that will appeal to the most fastidious dresser as black, blue, ecru and pink are amped up to tones of ochre and red.

New Age textiles added to the style quotient of the collection as shimmer jersey, Lurex, georgette, handloom and splashes of sequin added to the multi fabric/hued nature of the ensembles. Buyers will be encouraged to grab the printed drop waist dresses, make an entrance in glitzy, electric, blue, maxi or go for multi-striped skirts.

Opening the show with a navy, shimmering, pleated, midi, the op- art story in multi-colours continued throughout the collection. Metallic Tees and matching flared mini, micro pleated asymmetric maxi, the sari inspired gown and micro mini silver sequinned skirt glittered on the ramp. The printed velvet line comprised capris, blousons and a very stately power packed pantsuit, while the black net creations with multi-hued motifs cascading down the front were eye catchers.

Added in the collection were some crazy prints for wrap around maxis or bell-sleeved midis. For some more excitement, nothing can beat embroidered denim jeans with an abstract, printed, long-sleeved blouse worn with a waist pouch.

Making a fast pace zingy entry was the lovely, Bollywood, beauty, Tapsee Pannu, in a swinging long op-art, print, shimmering, robe over a black lace inner.

It’s time to mix and match as per the wearer’s moods and the “Hip Hop Baroque” look from Label Ritu Kumar has it all, to jazz up the steamy days of the coming months.

Keeping in mind the trend for this season, the look created for this show by Lakmé Makeup Expert Donald Simrock was kept very nude and clean. The inspiration was the urban mermaid with blue eye shadow, while the eye lashes had a dewy look. Defined eyebrows and a pop of colour on the eyes created using the Lakmé Absolute Nude Eye shadow palette, was the highlight of the look.
