Mumbai, Dec 5 (IBNS): Breaking her silence over her breakup with Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, actress Katrina Kaif has recently said the ending of their relationship was a "blessing" for her.

Katrina and Ranbir, who dated for years, broke up in 2016.

After remaining mum on her personal life for long, Katrina, in an interview with Vogue India, said: "I now see it as a blessing because I was able to recognise my patterns, thought processes and things that I had been so sure of my whole life. I could see them from a whole different perspective.”

The 35-year old actress, who shared screen space with Ranbir in multiple films, said the breakup gave her an opportunity to introspect.

She has been quoted by the magazine as saying, "What human nature does is that when we have something, or someone, to focus on, we can also shift a lot of our attention there, so we are not really forced to look at ourselves in any great perspective.

"We’re able to kind of shift a lot of responsibility—on decisions, for happiness, for entertainment and motivation. So now, when the sole burden of your life, what you’re doing, and your state of mind is on your shoulders because there’s nothing to distract you, that is a very intense time.”

Katrina and Ranbir together featured in films Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, Raajneeti and Jagga Jasoos.

While Katrina is still reportedly single, Ranbir has confessed he is dating Alia Bhatt, one of the leading contemporary Hindi film actress.

Regarding her personal and professional lives as a whole, Katrina, who will next be seen in Aanand L Rai's Zero, said regret is the "single-most useless emotion on the planet".
