How the Deepika-Ranveer cocktail love cruises into wedding vows

| @indiablooms | Nov 14, 2018, at 09:31 am

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, one of the most powerful contemporary actors, who have entertained the audience with their sizzling chemistry in films- all directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali- are set to tie their nuptial knot over Nov 14-15. IBNS looks back to their heavenly journey and their off-screen chemistry...

Their cinematic journey began with Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela in 2013 when Bhansali decided to cast young Ranveer opposite Deepika, who had then made a comeback in her Bollywood career with Hindi films like Cocktail, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express.

Revealing a secret, Deepika recently said her initial perception about her would-be husband, was however, not so pleasant for Ranveer to hear.

While speaking at the HT Leadership Summit in 2018, Deepika said she was not sure that Ranveer will have a blooming Bollywood career. When her manager told her that Ranveer would certainly become a "huge star", Deepika had replied saying, "Really? I am not so sure." Also Deepika revealed she had told her manager that Ranveer was also not her type.

After the release of Ramleela, the onscreen chemistry of Deepika and Ranveer caught everyone's glare, instantly becoming the talk of the B-town.

Following Ramleela's success, both Deepika and Ranveer emerged as actors who could give their contemporaries run for money. On the work front, Deepika carried on with films like Piku and Tamasha while Ranveer was trying to make his ground solid in the Mumbai film industry with movies like Gunday and Dil Dhadakne Do.

Meanwhile, the couple got united onscreen again with Bollywood's king of Baroque Bhansali, who went on with his tried and tested pair to cast in the opulent Bajirao Mastani.

Though Deepika was never much vocal about her love towards Ranveer, she revealed her affections towards her boyfriend occasionally. Ranveer, much like his natural behaviour, did not leave a chance to publicly acknowledge his love towards  Deepika and often unburdening his soul to display his emotions.

Getting down to his knees at the IIFA 2015 with a red rose, Ranveer went on to propose his ladylove. Deepika, who was looking gorgeous with a red saree, smiled and blushed when Ranveer said: "I pray to God that you become heroine of my every film....."

In another occasion while posing for photo-ops, Ranveer, dressed in green sherwani,  went down to his knees and even kissed Deepika's hands while expressing his love and affection.

The absence of his girlfriend had also turned Ranveer emotional as the actor was  missing Deepika at the TOIFA 2016 when the couple had won the best onscreen pair award.

With a dipping voice, Ranveer had said: "So this (award) is for best jodi (pair) and the better half of the jodi is not here today....as Kareena said I have the most beautiful woman by my side and that makes me feel that I can conquer the world."

In one of the few moments, Deepika, after her performance at IIFA 2016, gave flying kiss after showing a heart sign to Ranveer, who was sitting in the audience, only to get reciprocated by the latter.

Though the couple never admitted their courtship, Deepika, who featured in the first episode of Koffee With Karan Season 6, confirmed that she is in a relationship with Ranveer for last six years.

If one film had impacted the couple both professionally and personally it was Bhansali's third film with the pair, Padmaavat. Striking row, threats were coming from fringe group Karni Sena which had alleged that the film had shown Rani Padmini (played by Deepika onscreen) in poor light. The Karni Sena had even threatened Deepika with chopping off her nose.

Ranveer, though was then silent as par the filmmakers' and producers' advice over the entire episode, recently said how much the threats towards Deepika was provoking him.

Speaking at the Leadership Summit this year, the 33-year old actor and Bollywood sensation said: "I didn't want to validate these spunks by responding to them. So for me, responding to them means I am playing in their hands and validating exactly what they want...Who are these guys! They don't deserve the time of a day let alone a response from me. Of course my knee-jerk reaction was that I was infuriated...I was like I am a man and you are provoking me so I was all set to respond till my team, my seniors, my parents, they all calm me down......" (sic)

Though in Padmaavat, Ranveer as Alauddin Khalji could not get Rani Padmini, played by Deepika, the couple is just few hours away from getting united through mid-November marriage in Italy.
