Fearing attacks, movie theatres in Bihar refuse to screen Padmaavat

Patna, Jan 23 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Cinema halls in Bihar are refusing to screen Padmaavat directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in view of continuing protests by various fringe groups.

As per reports in the local media, all cinema theatres in Gaya district have decided not to screen the movie due to the protests.

The cinema halls in Bhagalpur and Purnia, two other districts of Bihar, too have decided against screening the controversial movie, fearing attacks.

The Patna-based Cine Polis, on the other hand, has suspended the further advance booking for this movie while some 50 tickets which were booked earlier too have been cancelled.

The Cine Polis decided about ignoring this movie after protesting members from Karni Sena, Sriram Sena and Bhartiya Swarna Morcha reached the hall on Monday and asked the manager of this cinema hall to cancel booking for this film.

“We won’t allow screening of this movie anywhere in Bihar in any circumstances. The issues over which we registered our protests earlier very much remain alive. We appeal the cinema halls’ owners not to screen this movie,” state general secretary of Karni Sena told the media on Monday.
