Article on Priyanka sexist, racist and disgusting: Sonam

| @indiablooms | Dec 05, 2018, at 09:08 pm

New Delhi, Dec 5 (IBNS):  Actress Sonam Kapoor and several other Twitter users have slammed The Cut for their article on Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas's wedding titled 'Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?'

Slamming the author of the article Mariah Smith, Sonam tweeted "For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you!"

The article has labeled Priyanka as a 'modern-day scam artist' and suggested that Nick Jonas has "married into a fraudulent relationship against his will".

The writer stated that: "This young man (Nick Jonas) had enough interest in Priyanka to DM her and publicly proclaim his lust."

Accusing the couple of having interest of money into each other, the writer noted: "After two months of dating, they became engaged in July 2018. An engagement that’s been riddled with more SponCon nonsense than even I could even dream up! Ranging from Tiffany’s to Amazon to the Google Pixel 3 phone to Ralph Lauren (the man who first dressed them as a couple), Priyanka and Nick are finding ways for their relationship to make them money."

"Like Priyanka said in her tweet earlier this year, the world would know if she got married, and she was right: The mangalsutra she’s wearing now is just one massive diamond," Mariah Smith wrote.

The article has been updated now.

Besides Sonam, journalist Nidhi Razdan wrote: "What an utterly nasty, below the belt piece. Hey @mRiah, not only do you come across as crass, but also racist. And unhappy."

Netizens also came out in full support of Priyanka.

One Randhir Deore commented: "Not a fan of over the top celebrations, but that is a personal opinion. Yet the article by @mRiah shows a spectacularly sick mind. It does not matter what anybody else but the couple thinks what is good for them. So yup Shut up Mariah!"

Another Twitter user Yogesh wrote: "Nick Jonas is one hell of a lucky chap... Priyanka is a self made woman and doesn’t need to marry a loser to lift her career, she still chose to just speaks of her fondness for the guy...@mRiah get a break and engage a counsellor,u need serious help..."

Priyanka, 36, tied the nuptial knot with American singer Nick Jonas, 26, on Saturday.

The elaborate wedding took place in Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan.

Priyanka got married to Nick according to Christian as well as Hindu rituals.
