A total of 79,13,518 vaccine doses are still available with the states to be administered, the statement read.

Meanwhile, amid an exponential surge in Covid cases and acute vaccine shortage, the Centre on Saturday rolled out its third phase of vaccination which will cover the 18-44 age group.

However, due to the shortage of vaccines and uncertainty over its availability, several states have announced to defer the rollout till proper procurement of vaccines.
