New Delhi /Kolkata, Mar 30 (IBNS): Tata Docomo the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices Limited was on Monday honoured for their efforts across three categories Product Innovation, Marketing and Energy Management at the prestigious ‘Voice & Data Telecom Leadership Forum 2015' held at New Delhi.

Tata Docomo’s online purchase portal “www.eShop.tatadocomo.com” was awarded  under the Marketing  category for India's first and only full service telecom e-commerce platform that enables online purchase of pre-paid, post-paid SIMs and Internet access dongles (Photon) enabling door step delivery and activation. eShop was successfully launched last year across 47 cities in India that accounts for over 90 percent of India’s current e-commerce potential.

In the Product Innovation category, Tata Docomo was recognised for developing innovative Multi-SIM (Micro & Nano SIM built in normal classic SIM); which led to the reduction of overhead costs   associated with maintaining multiple SIM types and also led to an overall reduction in carbon footprint. This innovation improved flexibility in stock levels, price and distribution efficiency right up to point-of-sales with added advantage for the customer to spend less by having a Multi SIM.

Tata Docomo’s “Project Optimus” was recognized under the Energy Management category for its continuing efforts to be a Green Telecom. In the last three years through its Project Optimus[1] initiative, Tata Docomo has converted around 15,750 sites from Indoor to Outdoor that resulted in Annualized Savings of 67,865 MWh of Grid units, 8,436 KL of Diesel, 79871TCO2e carbon foot print and Rs.98.97 crore of OPEX cost. This was achieved through conversion of base stations from Indoor BTS to Outdoor conversion through Outdoor Cabinet and Free Cooling units.

Speaking on the occasion, Elango Thambiah, President Mobility, Tata Teleservices Limited said, “We are honoured to receive the Special Leadership Recognition awards from Voice & Data. These recognitions are a testimony of our commitment towards Customer Centricity and Innovation.  Tata Docomo have always believed in continuously working towards creating innovative products and services which benefits our customers and address their evolving needs. Our customer centric approach has always helped us to quickly adapt to the dynamic and progressive changing world.  Recognitions like these are important motivators for us to remain committed towards building a better future. ”
