Hyundai announces $15.5 billion India investment plan through 2032: Here's what's coming
South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to invest $15.5 billion in India between 2026 and 2032, positioning the country as a strategic core market for its future growth, expansion into emerging markets and next-generation automotive innovation.
The investment plan was discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung at the Prime Minister's Office in New Delhi on October 13, 2026. The initiative underscores the group's commitment to strengthening its presence in India and contributing to the country's automotive sector growth.
The seven-year investment programme will cover manufacturing expansion, research and development (R&D) infrastructure, local supplier development, greater parts localisation and innovation in future automotive technologies. The initiative aims to strengthen India's automotive ecosystem while supporting the development of advanced technologies and domestic manufacturing capabilities.
To facilitate the implementation of the investment programme, Hyundai Motor Group will establish a dedicated investment entity in India. The entity will coordinate and execute investments across R&D infrastructure, future technologies and the broader automotive industry ecosystem.
It will also serve as a platform for identifying promising local partners, developing strategic partnerships and strengthening collaboration with domestic suppliers.
Through this investment, Hyundai Motor Group aims to expand its operations in India while reinforcing the country's role in its long-term global growth strategy and next-generation automotive development.
