Shell Lubricants and Tata Motors announce the winner of Tata Global Techfest 2015

Pune/Kolkata, Dec 21 (IBNS): Shell Lubricants, the global market share leader in finished lubricants in collaboration with Tata Motors, announced the winner of The Tata Techfest International Technician Championship 2015.

Conceptualized in 2012, with support from Shell Lubricants, Tata Global Techfest is a technical skill assessment program for Tata Motors technicians. It integrates well with the larger skill enhancement agenda driven by TATA Motors.

This involves Shell and Tata Motors gauging the technical competency of the contesting technicians.

A collaborative effort that has gained momentum over the years in India, was made to a global contest in 2014, inviting participation from technicians across the globe.

This year’s edition of the Tata Global Tech Fest attracted 7500 technicians from across 24 countries namely India, Australia, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Indonesia amongst others to participate in a six stage model which starts at the workshop level & culminating at the international level.  10 technicians from India and 15 from abroad made it to the grand finale. The top 5 winners were felicitated with cash prizes amounting to USD 6500.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Prasad, Managing Director, Shell Lubricants India said, “At Shell Lubricants India, our focus has always been to provide our valuable patrons with solutions that help improve performance, productivity and profits and drive customer satisfaction. Global TechFest, being a part of it, helps mechanics to improve their skills and keeps them motivated. This program is acting as a platform for mechanics to showcase their skills at global level and has helped us to reach mechanics community across the globe to understand their requirements on technical skills.
