Sensex rises by 373.17 points in week ended April 18

Mumbai, Apr 20 (UNI) The Benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) rose 373.17 points or 0.96pc in a truncated week under review to settle at 39,140.28,on Postive cue from global peers.

Market sentiment were also boosted after met department's forecast of near-normal monsoon.

Nifty too rose 109.35 points or 0.94 pc to settle at 11,752.80.

The BSE Mid-Cap fell 43.88 points or 0.28pc to settle at 15,382.57.

The BSE Small-Cap fell 0.98 points or 0.01 pc to settle at 15,021.20.

Domestic shares advanced on first trading day of the week on Monday, April 15 in line with most Asian stocks. Sensex rose 138.73points to settle at 38,905.84. Nifty too rose 46.90 points to settle at 11,690.35.

Local stocks ended with strong gains on Tuesday, April 16 on positive global cues and sustained buying by foreign portfolio investors. Met department's forecast of near-normal monsoon also boosted gains. Sensex rose 369.80 points to 39,275.64, its record closing high. Nifty also rose 96.80 points to 11,787.15, its record

closing high.

Domestic financial market remained closed on Wednesday, April 17 on account of Mahavir Jayanti.

The market snapped gains in past four trading sessions on Thursday, April 18 as selling in financial shares put pressure on bourses. Negative cues from other Asian shares triggered selling

The Sensex fell 135.36 points to settle at 39,140.28. Nifty fell 34.35 points to settle at 11,752.80.

Domestic market remained shut on Friday, April 19 on account of Good Friday.
