SBI, Assam govt launched state level Digital Banking awareness programme in Gauhati University

Guwahati, Dec 5 (IBNS) : To make a cashless society following the demonetisation, SBI NE circle, in collaboration with the Assam government, has launched a State Level Digital Banking Awareness Programme on Monday at Gauhati University Phanidhar Dutta Auditorium.

At the inaugural ceremony, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Assam government minister Naba Kumar Doley, Cheif Secretary V.K. Pipersenia, PVSLN Murty, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, North Eastern Circle including Dr. Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University, Ajay Tiwari, IAS, Commissioner & Secy, Sport & Youth Welfare, Higher Education, Assam, , Panna Lal Das, Om Prakash Mishra, General Managers of SBI NE Circle along with other dignitaries of SBI and Assamgovernment had attended this mega initiative of the State Bank of India.

To popularise the essence of digital platform in this present scenario of Govt’s initiative towards cashless economy, an arrangement has been made with Education Department, Assam to work jointly by engaging NSS Cadre under Director of Sports, Assam government in various School and Colleges throughout the state.

More than 250 NSS cadres have attended the programme. Various aspects of digital banking products of SBI has been discussed viz. mobile wallet BUDDY, SBI PAY, Cash at PoS etc. and the volunteers have been trained with the operational features of these applications.

NSS volunteers will work at various level of public places including semi-rural and rural areas to motivate public with SBI digital products in adopting the cashless transaction.

Assam CM thanked all the people of Assam and SBI for patience and dedication for coping the situation of demonetisation.

He also thanked SBi and Gauhati University along concern state govt department in arranging such initiative.

Sonowal said that, there is a virtual competition amongst the states in performer better on Central Govt’s drive for digitalisation of cash transaction at all level.

Sonowal appealed the gathering not to depend on the NSS cadres only, the awareness job can be taken up by 28000 people representatives like ZPCs, Gaon Panchayats etc.

The Assam CM hope to see the spread the knowledge and uses of digitalisation process to each 3.20 crore people of Assam and to make the state position as no. 1 in the country.

However, Assam already marked as model state in this job.  He also requested all concerned department like BSNL for connectivity in rural areas including Tea Garden areas.

PVSLN Murty started with cheerful way with the crowd and thanked all the invitees and stated that SBI is performing as leading role in bringing normalise the situation of demonetisation besides wide spread use of digital platform. Bank’s North eastern circle has already become the leading status in this job and Assam has become a role model state.

Recent demonetisation scenario has already changed the mindset of the people to stride towards cashless transaction.

Considering the situation and also to boost the Central Government’s drive towards cashless economy, North Eastern Circle of State Bank of India, with active support from Assam Government has decided to come up with massive awareness campaign on all its products and facilities available on digital banking platform.
