Reliance Industries will invest Rs. 5,000 crore in West Bengal: Mukesh Ambani announces in Bengal Global Business Summit

Kolkata, Jan 16 (IBNS): Giving positive news, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday said his company will invest Rs. 5,000 crore in West Bengal.

He said the investments will be made in the  telecom and petro-retail businesses.

Appreciating West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Bengal Global Business Summit here, Ambani said: "West Bengal is becoming Best Bengal!."

He said Banerjee has created a 'friendly climate' in the state.

Speaking on investment, Ambani promised: "We are committing to invest another Rs. 5,000 crore in Jio and the entire digital eco-system, retail and retro-retail in the next few years."

West Bengal Chief Minister is eyeing on to host a successful Bengal Global Business Summit 2017 starting from Tuesday in Kolkata.

The Summit will take place between Jan 16-17.

The fourth BGBS is hosting eminent businessmen like L N Mittal, Mukesh Ambani, Sajjan Jindal.

Banerjee, during her UK visit last year, invited Mittal and got his confirmation.

She had also invited Ambani by visiting his residence in Mumbai.

Jindal, whose cement factory was inaugurated in the state on Monday, is already in the state.

JSW Cement, producer of PSC cement in India and part of US$ 12 billion JSW Group, on Monday announced the inauguration of its 2.4 MTPA manufacturing unit at Salboni in West Bengal.

Banerjee tweeted: "9 partner countries, 32 countries with big delegations, more than 4000 participants, we look forward to #BGBS2018 with lots of optimism. My best wishes to all. #BengalMeansBusiness."
