New Delhi/Mumbai, Jul 12 (IBNS): Arvind Panagariya, policy adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, might be appointed as the next Reserve Bank of India (RBI) chief, according to media reports on Tuesday.
TV channels ABP News and CNBC Awaaz even said on Monday that they are expecting an announcement in the coming 48 hours.

But neither the Prime Minister's Office nor Panagariya's office offered any comments.

The Prime Minister's Office has said that a decision on the new central bank governor would be made before July 18, media reported.

Outgoing RBI chief Raghuram Rajan's tenure ends in early September.
