Raghuram Rajan's successor will be announced soon: Jaitley

New Delhi, June 18 (IBNS): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday announced that Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan's successor will be announced soon.

He appreciated Rajan for his contribution as Reserve Bank of India Governor.

Rajan said he will not serve as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a second term.

"Dr. Raghuram Rajan has announced his intention to go back to academics at the end of his current assignment," Jaitley tweeted.

"The Government appreciates the good work done by him and respects his decision. A decision on his successor would be announced shortly," the Finance Minister said.

Rajan said he will return to academics after the end of his term on Sept 4.
