Petrol price hiked by 5 p/l; diesel remains stagnant

New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) Petrol prices increased in range of four to five paise per litre on Sunday while diesel rates remain unchanged.

In national capital, petrol is being sold for Rs 72.86 per litre while diesel costs Rs 66.60 a litre.


In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 78.48 while diesel is priced at Rs 69.76 per litre.


According to Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol and diesel cost Rs 74.93 and 68.39 per litre in Kolkata.


In Chennai, petrol is retailing at Rs 75.67 a litre while diesel Rs 70.37 a litre.


In Noida, petrol is retailing at Rs 72.78 per litre and diesel cost Rs 65.79 a litre.


In Gurgaon, petrol is sold at Rs 72.24 a litre and diesel Rs 65.69 per litre.


As per the country’s dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon International fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the rupee.


The price of the two fuels retailing at the petrol pumps is calculated after adding central excise duty, dealers commission and value-added tax (VAT) to the base price.


The prices are revised at 0600 hrs daily, while earlier it used to be revised every fortnight.
