Petrol, diesel prices increase

New Delhi, Mar 1 (IBNS): Petrol price was increased by 1 paisa per litre on Sunday, officials said.

Diesel price was hiked by 44 paisa a litre.

New prices came to effect from midnight tonight.

"Increase in Selling Price of Petrol by Rs. 0.01/litre (excluding State levies)," state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a statement.

"Increase in Selling Price of Diesel by Rs. 0.44/litre (excluding State levies)," it said.

The statement further said: "The current level of international product prices of Petrol & Diesel and INR-USD exchange rate warrant increase in selling price of Petrol and Diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision."
