Mumbai/Kolkata, July 2 (IBNS): Moving a step ahead of mobile banking, HDFC on Thursday unveiled its banking app for Apple's recently launched Watch.

“We have started with Apple Watch since it is designed from ground up keeping in mind what the user would want to do with such a device in jiffy. We will also be launching similar app for other platforms like Android,” said Nitin Chug, Head, Digital Banking, HDFC.

Customers can do ten types of transaction using the i-Watch, which includes account information, mobile and DTH recharge, requesting A/C statement, requesting for a check book, locate nearest ATM and branch, viewing messages from the bank.

Discussing about the security of this off this app, Chug said: “This app is exactly like the mobile banking app, the app works with the mobile banking app. The watch is merely a projection device. Through this app banking comes to the customer’s wrist.”

“Users need to set a customized Watch Banking PIN for accessing their using Apple Watch. Additionally the Apple Watch itself has a pass code lock just like other IOS devices. The users will get automatically deactivated due to inactivity beyond five minutes," said Chug.

In future the company is all set to add features like pre-added billers, pay bills through active notifications and get notified about offers based on the customers location directly from the app.
