Mauritius, most business-friendly, says the island nation's Vice President

Kolkata, Apr 18 (IBNS): Vice President of Republic of Mauritius, Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, elaborated on the ideal environment for doing business in the island nation and the bilateral relationship between India and Mauritius, at a meeting in Kolkata's Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Vyapoory, on Monday, said that Mauritius has a skilled workforce and a modern infrastructure for setting up factories.

India is Mauritius' leading trading partner and has been the largest exporter of goods and services to the country since 2007.

Vice President Vyapoory highlighted the joint operations that both the countries are carrying out presently, with a reference to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi's Mauritius visit in 2015.

"Metro Express, which started on March 12 this year, was funded by India," Vyapoory said.

He also hinted the areas where the Mauritius government is likely to invest and one of them is the Indian film industry.

"We have a lot to offer to Indian film industry with the kind of great weather and locations we can provide," the Vice President said.

Apart from the metro express, India is also assisting Mauritius in setting up a national hydrographic unit.

Vyapoory Prime Minister Narendra Modi for redefining the bilateral relationship between the two countries during his visit and claimed that India is the largest trading centre for Mauritius.

Deven Coopoosamy, corporate of Rogers Capital, Mauritius reiterated the ease of doing business in their country.

Sutanu Ghosh, President of the Bengal Chamber also agreed that Mauritius is the ideal country where business can be done with ease.
