Infosys Science Foundation organizes second chapter of its Teachers' Training Program in Mysuru

Mysuru- July 28 (IBNS): The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF), in association with the Agastya International Foundation (AIF) and the Government of Karnataka, on Tuesday launched the second edition of its Teachers’ Training Program focused on the constructivist approach in hands-on training for educators from government schools in Karnataka, at the Infosys campus in Mysuru.

The organization said the training program is aimed at providing teachers tools and methodologies to explain concepts innovatively, encourage curiosity, and promote experiential learning in classrooms.

The current year’s program will be completed in batches over the next six-months.

K. Dinesh, Trustee, Infosys Science Foundation, and Co - Founder, Infosys delivered the inaugural address.

Basavaraj B.K, Joint Director, CTE- Mysore, Government of Karnataka, Ramji Raghavan, Founder and Chairman, Agastya International Foundation and Niranjan Dass, Former Principal, Vijaya College, Bangalore were also present at the event.

Ramji Raghavan, Founder and Chairman, Agastya International Foundation, said, “Teachers can transform society. Encouraging, stimulating, training and motivating teachers to transform classrooms through inspired performance therefore is imperative to build a vibrant education system and society. We are delighted to partner with the Infosys Science Foundation and the Government of Karnataka to further our objective of injecting a creative spark through the “Aah Aha! and Ha-ha!” spirit of learning in the school classroom.”

Speaking at the inauguration of the program, K. Dinesh, Trustee, Infosys Science Foundation, and Co - Founder, Infosys, said, “Our concept of education has to change. We should train our children to translate what they learn in the classroom/labs into an understanding of the natural and physical phenomena of science outside in the real world and think of solving problems in the society around them. It is here that teachers play a critical role in influencing and moulding the minds of their young wards. We believe that enabling these teachers will have a considerable effect in reaching out to hundreds of thousands of students. Through this initiative, we hope to break-down conventional teaching methodologies and equip educators to be co-constructors of knowledge with children, by exploring and multiplying their own innate curiosity and creativity.”
