Indian Rupee jumps 54 paise against USD

Mumbai, Sep 18 (UNI) The Rupee on Wednesday surged by 54 paise to 71.24 on fresh selling of US Dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.

Tumbling down by 78 paise in last couple of sessions, the domestic unit went up by 29 paise to 71.49 in early trade today. During the day it rallied by 54 paise to close high at 71.24 as compared to its last close.

The local unit recorded day high and low at 71.52 and 71.16 respectively.

The Indian currency shot up following weak Dollar against other world currencies along with rebounding equity market, the dealers added.
