Indian benchmark indices close higher on Thursday

Mumbai, Apr 20 (IBNS): The Indian market ended Thursday in positive territory with BSE Sensex up 85.82 points at 29422.39 and NSE Nifty up 32.90 points at 9136.40.

Key stocks that gained were GAIL, Adani Ports, HDFC, Asian Paints and Maruti Suzuki while ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, NTPC and Coal India declined.

In the corporate earnings segment. Hindustan Zinc posted its March quarter results on Thursday. The company reported  profit of Rs 3,057 crore, up 42 percent in Q4, against Rs 2,147.2 crore posted during the same quarter last year.
