New Delhi, Feb 12 (IBNS): More than 25 Indian and over 100 Israeli companies will gather later this month for a unique business seminar on Defence and Security in Israel.

The seminar organized jointly by SIBAT,  the Israel Ministry of Defence International Defense Cooperation Directorate and FICCI will take place on 21-25/2/2016 and will mainly focus on increasing collaborations and JV’s between MSME’s on both sides.

The seminar will highlight the huge potential to cooperate under Prime Minister Modi ‘Make in India’ initiative and will deal with the new expected Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2016 with a special focus on JV’s between industries in Israel and in India. More than 500 B2B meetings are expected to take place during the seminar.

Both countries defence establishments and industries have been partnering for many years in various areas. This will be the fourth joint seminar for SIBAT and FICCI in recent years. Another seminar is expected to take place in Chennai later this year, dedicated to armored vehicles

Ambassador Daniel Carmon commented: “Our growing relations with India range on a wide spectrum of sectors from defence to water, agriculture IT, R&D and many more. In defence, like in any other field, our cooperation is a result of friendship and partnership constantly aiming at benefiting both countries capabilities. In the field of defence, Israel has proven more than once in the past as a reliable strategic partner and that we are open for the concept of transfer of advanced technology and joint development."

"Both our governments as well as the Israeli companies that are already implementing projects in India, are ready to engage with relevant partners under the ‘Make in India’ initiative to create more viable and sustainable partnerships.

"I have no doubt that the national security interests of India and Israel, respectfully, have been benefitting from our many years of unique cooperation,” he said.

Director of SIBAT Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Mishel Ben Baruch who will be the keynote speaker at the seminar said: “In recent years, we have witnessed a growing cooperation between Indian and Israeli defence companies. This cooperation demonstrates the warm relations between our two countries. These relations are based on shared values, trust and openness."

He said the bilateral cooperation includes not only in acquisitions but also sharing technologies and knowledge, conducting joint seminars, exchange of delegations on both sides and most of all extraordinary intimacy.

"SIBAT, as the directorate responsible for assisting Israeli defence companies abroad, is very satisfied and proud to witness this collaboration. I would like to congratulate FICCI for our productive collaboration as it contributes significantly to the important defence relations between our countries.”

Secretary General of FICCI Dr A. Didar Singh said: “Israel is a close ally of India and is strategically a very important country for us. FICCI and SIBAT have initiated to bring the industries of Indian and Israel closer with their business friendly initiatives."

"We are inviting Indian companies to join the Defence, Aerospace and security Delegation to Israel where we will predominantly facilitate and encourage discussion between the Indian and Israeli companies towards the opportunities under ‘Make in India’ program.

"I am confident that the delegation will help in bringing much needed niche technologies in India through a partnership model and also help Israeli companies to form joint ventures and invest in India under relaxed FDI regime to access the Indian market. We have received confirmations from reputed Indian industry players, comprising of both large and MSMEs who are very active in defence manufacturing and services business,” he said.
