Eight core industries grow by 5.6 pctin December

New Delhi, Jan 31 (IBNS): India's eight core industries regitered a growth of 5.6 per cent in December, official data released on Tuesday said.

The eight core industries comprise nearly 38 % of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). 

"The combined Index of eight core industries stands at 189.1 in December, 2016, which was 5.6 % higher compared to the index of December, 2015," read a government statement.

Its cumulative growth during April to December, 2016-17 was 5.0 %.
