CREDAI Bengal launches Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana in Kolkata
Kolkata, Jan 12 (IBNS): CREDAI Bengal, the state chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India, the apex body of the organized real estate developers across India, launched the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY) with an aim to uplift and empower unskilled workers.
The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is an initiative by the Government of India that aims to offer 24 lakh Indian youth meaningful, industry relevant, skill based training. Under this scheme, the trainees will be offered a financial reward and a government certification on successful completion of training and assessment, which will help them in securing a job for a better future.
Sushil Mohta, President, CREDAI Bengal, said: “On behalf of CREDAI Bengal and all its members, we express our appreciation towards the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). It is alarming that less than 5% of India's 487 million workforces have not received any formal training. Empowering and development of the workers should be the highest priority of all the developers. The development of the skills by providing the workers with proper guidance and training will be done in a systemic manner under the PMKVY scheme of the government.”
Jaiprakash P Shroff, Chairman, KUSHAL, said, “As a chairman of Kushal, I would like to thank CREDAI Bengal for taking the initiative and coming forward to support the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. With the help of National Skill Development Corporation, we believe that this scheme has the capability to develop and train the construction workers by reaching every corner in India. At Kushal, we strongly believe that with the help of PMKVY every construction worker can improve his skills, talents which will help in the development of his working and living standard. In last four years, Kushal reached out to 158 sites; touched more than 31,053 lives and 19,750 families now posses a certified construction worker on a definite career path, earning and living better.”
Harsh Vardhan Patodia, Vice President, CREDAI National, said: “According to a report by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), India will need around 76.5 million strong workforces for its building, construction and real estate sector. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is an ideal scheme for the development of workers’ skills and latent talent in India. The scheme is focused on developing the skill of the workers by providing them with classroom sessions and practical training. As there is a spurt in affordable housing segment, we developers feel that there is growing need for manpower, proficient with excellent skills on technical abilities. The industry and the government need to pay special focus on this segment of workforce. With the help of the scheme there will be an increase in the number of skilled workers in the country.”
