Ashok Leyland sharpens focus on Eastern India market through its Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation (iEGR) technology for BS4 engines

Kolkata, July 4 (IBNS): Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group, and the 2nd largest commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturer in India, on Tuesday showcased its range of future ready products, based on Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation (iEGR) technology, and innovative industry-leading services at its Zonal Conference 2017 in Kolkata.

Kolkata, being a commercial and financial hub in the region, is a focus market for Ashok Leyland to further increase its presence in the region.

The iEGR technology will further add strength to its offering in the market, resulting in a more satisfied and profitable customer base.

This one-of-a-kind expo is the largest by any OEM in this part of the country and highlights the company’s focus for the region. Ashok Leyland, in partnership with JIS Group Educational Initiatives, has recently inaugurated a world-class Service Training Centre in Kolkata. It is the 9th such Centre in India and second in this (east) region of the country, after Bhubaneshwar.

Pioneering the indigenous development and application of the iEGR technology, Ashok Leyland is the only domestic OEM to implement this technology successfully for its products above 130 Horse Power (HP). Thus, Ashok Leyland has, once again, brought its technology prowess and Indian innovation to the fore for the benefit of its customers.

Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation (iEGR) technology is a simple yet innovative solution to achieving the desired results in order to meet the BS4 norms.

This technology is not only better suited to Indian conditions compared to Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology (based on European technology) but will also prove to be hugely cost effective, easy to operate and hassle-free to maintain.

All of which will benefit the Ashok Leyland customer, resulting in better margins compared to products by OEMs which are based on SCR technology. With iEGR technology as the highlight, the Company displayed a mix of over thirty innovative products and services, featuring trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), simulators and gensets.

Speaking on the occasion Anuj Kathuria, President - Global Trucks, Ashok Leyland, said, “Ashok Leyland has always believed in putting our customers first in everything that we do. We are proud that we have helped shaped the commercial vehicle industry in the past and with iEGR we have yet again proved our mettle in technology and innovation. Tied to our brand philosophy, ‘Aapki Jeet, Hamari Jeet’, iEGR represents our effort in making our customer’s life hassle-free yet making Ashok Leyland products work even harder for them. This approach has given us results and has helped us gain our customers’ trust, nation-wide. We have been receiving very good response from almost all regions in India and East being one of the most important, we hope for a similar response for our iEGR fitted products. Displaying our range of products and services in Kolkata is a significant step towards amplifying our position further in this region. Our persistence and aggression in delighting our customers has helped us reach a market share of 27% in FY17 and we targeting over 30% in FY18 in the East region”.
