Pretoria, July 6 (IBNS): Former Olympian Oscar Pistorius on Wednesday was sentenced to six years in prison for murdering his girl friend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.
His initial five-year conviction for manslaughter  was last year changed to murder on appeal.

The Olympian has been taken to jail.

Pistorius was charged with murder and illegal possession of ammunition following the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013.

Pistorius had admitted shooting dead Steenkamp, 29, while she was in the bathroom of his home on Feb 14, 2013. He claimed he mistook her for an intruder and denied a charge of premeditated murder.
