Pakistan: Parents of 2014 Peshawar school massacre oppose amnesty to TTP

Peshawar: The parents of the students who died in the terrorist attack on an Army Public School (APS) in 2014 have rejected the federal government’s proposed amnesty to proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), media reports said.

The parents vowed they would continue to demonstrate if the terrorists are given amnesty.

Holding photos of their martyred children, the parents held a protest demonstration outside Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Dawn News.

They chanted slogans against President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, the newspaper reported.

The protesters told Dawn News that the federal government could announce conditional amnesty for TTP members if they gave up their extremist activities and surrendered.

They said the terrorists do not deserve amnesty.

APS Shuhada Forum president Advocate Ajoon Khan on behalf of the victims’ parents told journalists that the government should brief the victims’ families on its plan to give amnesty to TTP.

“The government will satisfy us as to who is the killer of our children,” he told Dawn News and added that the parents wanted nothing else except justice.
