Islamabad/IBNS: At least four people, including three personnel of the Sindh Rangers, were killed and three others injured after a suspected suicide attack targeted the Sindh Rangers headquarters in Pakistan's Karachi on Saturday.

The assault triggered multiple explosions and an exchange of gunfire, prompting a large-scale security operation in the area.

According to local media reports from Pakistan, the attacker detonated explosives near the Rangers compound while other suspected militants opened fire on security personnel, leading to an intense gun battle that lasted for nearly 30 minutes.

Multiple explosions heard before gunfire

Sources cited by local media said a powerful initial explosion was followed by two smaller blasts.

The explosions were accompanied by sustained gunfire as security forces responded to the attack.

The incident occurred along a major road in Karachi's Gulistan-i-Jauhar area, an important route connecting several universities and leading to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Search operations underway

Following reports of the explosions and gunfire, police, Rangers, and rescue teams rushed to the scene, according to Dawn.

Authorities cordoned off the surrounding neighbourhood as security personnel launched an operation to secure the area and search for any remaining attackers.

Videos circulating on social media showed a heavy deployment of police and security forces around the headquarters, while intermittent gunfire could reportedly be heard during the operation.

Sindh CM seeks detailed report

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah sought a comprehensive report on the incident, according to his spokesperson, Dawn reported.

Officials have not yet released complete details regarding the sequence of events, while investigators continue to assess the extent of the attack.

No group claims responsibility yet

Authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of those behind the assault, and no organisation had claimed responsibility at the time of reporting.

However, both the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the separatist Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) have previously claimed responsibility for attacks carried out in Karachi.
