Ban appoints Philippines national as head of UN internal oversight office

New York, Oct 6 (IBNS): United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, following consultations with Chairs of Regional Groups, informed the General Assembly on Monday of his intention to appoint Heidi Mendoza of the Philippines as the new Under-Secretary-General for the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) for a five-year non-renewable term.

Mendoza is currently the Commissioner of the Commission of Audit of the Philippines (since 2011) and Chairperson of the Audit Committee on Public Sector Auditing Standards Board.

She also serves as the External Auditor for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Health Organization (WHO) and International Labour Organization (ILO).

Mendoza is a certified public accountant with over 20 years of service in government specializing in audit, investigation, fraud examination, anti-corruption and integrity advocacy.
