New Delhi/IBNS: In line with its focus to enhance its international connectivity, India’s leading carrier, IndiGo on Wednesday announced the launch of 6 new daily direct flights, including new connections between Bengaluru-Jeddah effective Mar 29, 2020 and Mumbai-Kathmandu effective June 25, 2020.

The airline also announced additional frequencies between Chennai-Colombo w.e.f. Mar 1, 2020.

Jeddah being a hub for commercial activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the gateway for Haj and Kathmandu being the seat of Pashupatinath, IndiGo opens routes that will ease travel for pilgrimages from Bengaluru and Mumbai to Jeddah and Kathmandu, increasing social cohesion in the region.

Nepal is also uniquely positioned on the global tourism map as the home of several key Hindu and Buddhist places of worship and the tallest peaks of the Himalayan range.

William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are pleased to announce 6 new flights, strengthening international connectivity from key metro cities in India. Having connected Jeddah with Delhi and Mumbai last year and Bengaluru now, will promote trade and tourism in both the countries through increased mobility. Furthermore, the Mumbai-Kathmandu route will channelize increased tourist traffic from India to Nepal, promoting opportunities and economic growth in the country. We are confident that these new additions will offer our customers with novel options to experience IndiGo’s signature on-time, courteous and hassle-free experience at affordable fares”.
