Kolkata/IBNS: India's cricket icon Sourav Ganguly has returned as the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president replacing his brother and former cricketer Snehasish Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly returned to the top post on Monday after Snehasish completed his six-year-tenure cap.

This will be Sourav Ganguly's second stint as the CAB president, the post he held earlier from 2015 to 2019.

"I have worked as a President for 5 years before this as well. We will do what is best.

"There is an immense craze for cricket in India. There is a lot of talent. It will be our work to give direction to this talent," the ex-India captain told ANI, assuming the post to which he was elected unopposed.

Ganguly's first big assignment will be India's first Test against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 14-18.

This will be India's first match in the longest format at this venue since they played the Pink Ball Test against Bangladesh in 2019.

Ganguly, who remained the Indian cricket board (BCCI) president from 2019 to 2022, was instrumental in organising the Pink Ball Test.
