Kolkata/IBNS: Rajinikanth, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher and actor-MP Kangana Ranaut are among the prominent film personalities expected to attend the inauguration of the 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

The announcement was made by veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, along with Tollywood superstars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jeet, at the logo launch event of the upcoming edition, held at the Nandan film centre on Sunday.

Victoria Memorial to host inauguration

The inauguration ceremony will be held at the iconic Victoria Memorial, marking a change in venue under the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal.

The event was traditionally held at Netaji Indoor Stadium under the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.

Sandip Ray designs official logo

The official logo of the 32nd edition was unveiled at the event. Designed by filmmaker Sandip Ray, the logo features prominent saffron elements.

Praising Ray's work, Chakraborty said, "Sandip Ray made the logo within two days. I found it brilliant."

Prosenjit stresses quality cinema and Nandan

Speaking about the festival's vision, Prosenjit Chatterjee emphasised the importance of showcasing quality films and creating an environment that attracts discerning audiences.

"We want quality films to be watched by a discerning audience. Following the practices of leading international film festivals like Cannes, we want to focus on Nandan, which we consider the ultimate destination for cinema.

"At the same time, our priority is to ensure that only the finest films are screened at the festival," he told IBNS.

Ireland to be the focus country

The 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival, the first edition to be held under the BJP government in West Bengal, will run from December 16 to 23.

Ireland will be the focus country for this year's festival.
