'Nationwide boycott if scene not removed': BJP MLA calls Shah Rukh Khan 'jihadi' over Deepika Padukone's saffron outfit in King
New Delhi/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ravi Negi, who represents Delhi's Patparganj constituency, has threatened a nationwide boycott of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film King unless a scene featuring his co-star Deepika Padukone in a saffron outfit is removed.
Negi alleged that the scene, featuring Deepika in the song 'Tu Mil Jaaye', was intended to insult Hindus and followers of Sanatan Dharma.
"I warn Shah Rukh Khan of a nationwide boycott of King if this scene is not edited," Negi said speaking to Dainik Samachar, adding, "It's a conspiracy to defame Sanatanis."
BJP MLA recalls Pathaan controversy
Negi also recalled the controversy surrounding Deepika's orange bikini in the song 'Besharam Rang' from the 2023 film Pathaan, which marked Shah Rukh Khan's comeback to the big screen.
"The Sanatanis won't tolerate it," the BJP leader warned the superstar, who turned 61 on November 2.
He also criticised Deepika for appearing in the allegedly controversial scene.
"As a celebrity, Deepika Padukone should also be ashamed of herself. They earn money from Hindustan but defame Sanatanis," Negi said.
KING: DEEPIKA'S SAFFRON DRESS SPARKS ROW BJP legislator Ravinder Singh Negi, also known as Ravi Negi, issued a stern demand to Shah Rukh Khan regarding the upcoming film King's musical track Tu Mil Jaaye. The lawmaker directed the actor to delete footage featuring co-star Deepika Padukone dressed in saffron attire. Negi referenced a similar dispute from three years prior involving Padukone's saffron swimwear in the motion picture Pathaan. The renewed pushback targets the specific outfit choice showcased within the newly released song sequence. #DeepikaPadukone #ShahRukhKhan #KingMovie #RaviNegi #BJP #BollywoodNews https://t.co/bFYKCGOH7R

"We will launch widespread protests if the scene is not removed," he added.
Negi also reportedly called SRK "a jihadi" accusing him of using Deepika as a "pawn".
Negi targets actors over Diwali cracker debate
In his remarks, Negi also drew a parallel with actor Dia Mirza's call for a ban on firecrackers during Diwali, accusing celebrities of maintaining double standards.
"They call for a ban on crackers on Diwali but remain silent on animal sacrifice on Eid," Negi said.
