Mumbai.New Delhi, Aug 16 (IBNS): Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Thursday condoled the passing away of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who she considered to be her father like.

In her message she said she is deeply saddened by the death of Vajpayee.

"With the death of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it seemed as if a mountain came down on me since I considered him to be my father-like. Vajpayeeji used to adore me like his daughter. I feel the same pain today as I I felt on the death of my own father. May God bless his soul," Mangeshkar said in a statement.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a three-time prime minister of India, a Bharat Ratna and a stalwart of Indian politics who represented the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Thursday. He was 93.
