Woman killed in early morning mishap in Kolkata's EM Bypass

Kolkata/IBNS: A woman was killed after being hit by an over speeding car while crossing road at Kadapara crossing in eastern Kolkata on EM Bypass on Sunday early morning, reports said.

According to reports, the accident took place at around 5 am.

The deceased has been identified as Gouri De who was a resident of nearby Dattabad area.

Following the mishap, locals chased and caught the driver and passenger of the private sedan, and later they were handed over to the police.

Locals at a large number had blocked EM Bypass at Kadapara crossing and staged demonstration for hours.

Local police officials said that after seizing the car and detaining its driver as well as a passenger, an investigation had been initiated into the accident.
