WB: Policeman shot by miscreants in East Midnapore

Kolkata, Jan 7 (IBNS): One police constable was shot dead in West Bengal's East Midnapore district when few miscreants fired bullets indiscriminately aiming at the police on Thursday night, reports said.

According to reports, few men were moving suspiciously around 10 pm. at Kapaseria village under Mahishadal Police Station area in East Midnapore district.

When a night patrolling team of Mahishadal Police Station challenged them, those men tried to flee from the spot.

When the police chased them, they reportedly threw bombs and fired bullets aiming at the police force and managed to escape from the area.

One police constable- Nabakumar Hait- was gunned down and another policeman was injured. He has been taken to Tamluk hospital.

A huge police force led by East Midnapore district police's top officials have rushed to the spot.

Nobody has been arrested so far.
