India hits back at Pakistan: Structures outside High Commission demolished in Delhi

| @indiablooms | Aug 20, 2026, at 12:51 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: In a tit-for-tat move, a section of structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi was demolished by authorities, who cited encroachment beyond the jurisdiction of the diplomatic mission, media reports said.

The action came days after Pakistani authorities removed protective security barricades placed outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

What happened?

Authorities in New Delhi used a JCB machine to remove structures and barricades placed outside the Pakistan High Commission.

Traffic bollards and barricades were removed, leaving debris outside the diplomatic mission.

Videos showed sections of the outer structures being torn down, while broken fencing and construction material were seen lying outside the premises.

Action follows Islamabad move

The demolition in New Delhi came after Pakistani authorities took similar action outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

A few days ago, the Pakistani authorities removed protective security barricades placed outside the Indian diplomatic mission.

The latest developments have added to the diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan raises Kashmir issue with US

The development comes amid a fresh diplomatic exchange over Kashmir.

On Wednesday, Pakistan raised an issue with the United States after US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor described the Union Territory as "an important part of India."

Gor had praised the situation in the valley following his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, a remark that appeared to have drawn a strong reaction from Pakistan.
