WB: Girl jumps from multi-storey to save herself from rape, 3 arrested

Kolkata, Mar 7 (IBNS): A girl jumped from a second-floor window of a multi-storey building in Liluah area in West Bengal's Howrah district to save herself from gang rape on Sunday, reports said.

According to reports, two of her male friends had invited her to another friend's flat. The trio allegedly tried to gang rape her thereafter.

The girl claimed that to save herself, she shouted for help and then jumped through a window.

According to reports, locals rescued the girl and held the three accused - Nantu Basu, Chhoton Dutta and Bhola Nayek - and handed them over to the police.

Police arrested them and slapped charges on them suo motto basis.

The girl, who sustained a head injury, has been admitted to a hospital.

Police have started an investigation into the case and the arrested are likely to be produced to a Howrah court on Monday.
