Two people killed, 21 injured in Assam blast

Guwahati, Apr 4 (IBNS): At least two people including a police constable were killed and 21 others were injured in a powerful explosion in Assam's Goalpara district while the first phase poll in 65 constituencies was held in the state on Monday.
The IED was exploded in front of Dudhnoi police station on Monday evening.
 
Goalpara district SP Nitul Gogoi said that the IED was exploded near a shop in front of Dudhnoi police station.
 
The top police official said that suspected ULFA (I) militants triggered the explosion targeting the corps.
 
The injured persons were rushed to Goalpara civil hospital and Guwahati medical college hospital.
 
Top police and army officials also rushed to the area and launched operation against the militants.
 
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi campaigned for the second phase poll in the lower Assam district on Monday.
