Three Indians injured as drone strike hits UAE oil zone, Fujairah oil refinery fire triggers regional alarm
Three Indian nationals were injured after a drone attack from Iran triggered a fire at a major oil industry zone in the United Arab Emirates on Monday, marking a sharp escalation in regional tensions and breaking months of relative calm in the Gulf.
The incident reportedly took place at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, one of the UAE’s key energy hubs, where civil defence teams rushed to control the blaze before it could spread further.
The Fujairah Media Office confirmed that emergency teams responded swiftly and the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
The attack is being described as the first major breach of calm in the UAE since a Pakistani-mediated ceasefire between Washington and Tehran came into effect on April 8.
Drone strike sparks fire at key oil infrastructure
According to early reports, the drone strike caused a fire inside the industrial zone, raising immediate concerns about the safety of critical energy infrastructure in the region.
Authorities said fire and rescue teams managed to contain the situation, preventing a wider catastrophe at the strategic oil facility, which plays an important role in global energy supply routes.
The identity and condition of the three injured Indians have not yet been fully disclosed, but officials confirmed they were among those caught in the aftermath of the incident.

Missiles intercepted over UAE waters
In a parallel development, UAE military systems reportedly intercepted three Iranian missiles over its waters, while a fourth missile is said to have crashed into the sea.
The incidents heightened fears of a broader escalation, with defence systems placed on high alert across key cities.
Earlier in the day, mobile phone users in Dubai and Abu Dhabi received emergency alerts warning of possible missile threats and advising residents to seek immediate shelter.
The alert instructed people to stay away from windows, doors and open areas and to remain indoors until further instructions were issued.
Fujairah remains repeated target of attacks
This is not the first time Fujairah’s energy infrastructure has come under attack. On March 14, a previous drone strike hit the Port of Fujairah, triggering fires and forcing a temporary suspension of oil-loading operations.
The repeated targeting of energy facilities in the emirate has raised concerns over maritime and energy security in one of the world’s most sensitive shipping corridors.
Rising tensions raise global concern
The latest incident is expected to draw international attention, particularly given its proximity to key global oil routes and the involvement of foreign nationals among the injured.
With tensions already high in the Gulf region, the attack on Fujairah adds a fresh layer of uncertainty to an already fragile security environment, raising fears of further escalation in the days ahead.
