Tarun Gogoi will be Congress CM candidate in Assam : Rahul Gandhi

Guwahati, Dec 12 (IBNS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be the Congress Chief Ministerial candidate in the 2016 Assam assembly polls.

During interactions with Editors, Executive Editors and Senior Journalists at Brahmaputra Guest House in Guwahati, the Congress vice president said that, he is more confident that Congress will again come to power in Assam in 2016.

"Tarun Gogoi will be the Congress Chief Ministerial candidate in 2016 Assam poll. The people of Assam would not want any communal politics, " Rahul Gandhi said.

Gandhi also said that the Assam CM and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee will decide for pre-poll alliance or understanding matters.

On other hand, the Congress vice president said that, the Congress party is very concerned about implementing the Assam Accord which was signed by  Rajiv Gandhi. 

Rahul Gandhi participated in a Communal Harmony Walk in Barpeta on Saturday during his two day visit to Assam fromThursday.

In Barpeta, the Congress vice president will address a public meeting and will interact with local people.
