New Delhi, Jan 12 (IBNS) India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will travel to Israel on Jan 17-18, officials said on Tuesday.

"During the visit, Minister Swaraj will have meetings and interactions with the President of Israel Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as Minister of Defence Moshe Ya’alon, Minister of National Infrastructure Yuval Steinitz and Israeli legislators. Minister Swaraj will also interact with the Indian community in Israel," the Embassy of Israel said in a statement.

External Affairs Minister’s visit comes shortly after President  Pranab Mukherjee visited Israel in October 2015 – a first visit by an Indian President to Israel.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Israel in November 2014.

During 2015 Minister of Agriculture, Yair Shamir and Minister of Defence, Moshe Ya’alon held visits to India.

Swaraj had visited Israel in 2008 as Chairperson of the Indo-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The visit is an important ingredient in the ever-growing relations, friendship and partnership between the two countries.
