Sushma Swaraj meets Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas

Ramallah, Jan 17 (IBNS): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday met Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas here.

Abbas hosted a lunch for the Indian minister.

"A fresh momentum to an old friendship. EAM @SushmaSwaraj calls on Abu Mazen, President Mahmoud Abbas," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

"Breaking bread together in Palestine. President Mahmoud Abbas hosts lunch for EAM @SushmaSwaraj," he posted with pictures of the event.

Swaraj earlier in the day also paid tribute at the mausoleum of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

This is the External Affairs Minister's first visit to the West Asia region.

She  left for her two-day visit to Palestine and Israel on Saturday.
