New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended till July 15 the protection from arrest to senior journalist Vinod Dua in a sedition case filed against him by a BJP leader in Himachal Pradesh.

"Our earlier order will continue till next Wednesday, we will hear the case again on July 15," a bench of the Apex Court, led by Justice U U Lalit said.

The Top Court directed the Himachal Pradesh government to file copies of probe papers in the case in a sealed cover, with respect to the points of delays in the investigation process in the matter.

It said, the court wants to verify whether the government is in "right earnest" in the case at all.

The Apex Court also said that it will dispose of the case in the next hearing, if possible.

On May 6, BJP leader Shyam lodged a complaint against Dua at Kumarsain police station in Shimla, saying that the journalist in his youtube show spread fake news on Delhi riots and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using "deaths and terror attacks" to get votes.
