New Delhi/IBNS: In a setback for auto dealers, the Supreme Court on Friday banned the registration of BS-IV vehicles until further order, media reports said.

The Supreme Court bench, headed by Justice Arun Sharma, said an unusual number of BS-IV vehicles were sold during the anti-Covid-19 lockdown.

Earlier in July, the top court had recalled its Mar 27 order allowing the auto dealers to sell their unsold BS-IV vehicles.

The top court has noted that 2.55 lakh of the particular vehicles were sold while it had allowed registration of only 1.05 BS-IV vehicles.
