New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the central government to be ready for the third wave of Covid-19 at a time the country is devastated by the second wave of the pandemic, media reports said.

The court has asked the Centre to prepare buffer stock of oxygen.

"We need to prepare for the third wave of Covid-19. There are reports of children being affected. We need to create a buffer stock of oxygen as soon as possible," the top court said as quoted by Times Now.

It added, "If you (Centre) make an error in policy framing, then, you will be held responsible and accountable for it."

India registered 3,980 Covid-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data on Thursday.

This is the highest number of deaths recorded by the country due to Covid-19.

After remaining in the over 3-lakh margin, India registered yet another day of massive spike as 4,12,262 daily cases were registered in the past 24 hours.
