Shot in the leg, still charged ahead: Army dog Tyson leads forces to 3 terrorists

| @indiablooms | Feb 22, 2026, at 10:02 pm

An Indian Army dog named Tyson displayed exceptional bravery during an anti-terror operation in the Chhatroo area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, helping security forces eliminate three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists hiding in the region.

According to reports, Tyson, a German Shepherd, serves with the Indian Army’s 2 Para (Special Forces). During the high-risk operation, Tyson led troops to a terrorist hideout, playing a crucial role in tracking down the militants.

Despite being shot in the leg during the encounter, the Army dog continued to advance, enabling security personnel to accurately locate the terrorists and neutralise them.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police S. P. Vaid praised Tyson’s courage in a post on X, writing: “Tyson, today you have served Mother India with more courage and loyalty than millions who only conspire and dream of harming Bharat. Your loyalty and sacrifice put many humans to shame. Bravo!”

Earlier, the White Knight Corps confirmed that at least three terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Kishtwar on Sunday.

Among those eliminated was a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Saifullah Baloch, who was considered one of the most wanted terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

He carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head, according to a report by India Today.
