Seven from NE region selected for Padma award
Guwahati, Jan 25 (IBNS): Noted art theater personality from north eastern Indian state of Manipur Heisnam Kanhailal was on Monday selected for prestigious Padma Bhushan award.
A total of seven personalities from North-East India have been selected for Padma award 2016.
Apart from Heisnam Kanhailal, four noted persons from Assam, one each from Nagaland and Meghalaya have been selected for Padma Shri award in this year.
From Assam, Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah, Prahlad Chandra Tasa, Kameshwar Brahma, Ajoy Kumar Dutta have been selected for Padma Shri.
On the other hand, Prof. Veena Tandon from Meghalaya and Tokheho Sema from Nagaland were also selected for Padma Shri award.
Heisnam Kanhailal received the Padma Shri award as well in 2004.
