Sabarimala, June 25 (IBNS): Three people were detained by the police for allegedly causing damage to the gold-coated mast at the Sabarimala temple, media reports said.

Officials reportedly found that the gold-coasting on the mast changed colour after the mast-installation ceremony.

Three people were caught on CCTV throwing a substance on the structure, reports said.

A high-level investigation has been ordered into the incident.

“It seems like some people have deliberately done this to create mischief. We will not spare them,” state temple affairs minister Kadakampally Surendran was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

A police complaint has been filed in connection with the incident.
