Ram Nath Kovind to swear in as 14th Indian President on July 25
Kovind, who was an NDA candidate, swept the Presidential poll by a margin of 32% of electoral votes.
He was named as the newly elected President on Thursday.
Kovind secured 7,02,044 out of 10,69,358 valid votes polled, which is approximately 66%.
The President-designate, who comes from Uttar Pradesh, became the second Dalit President of India after K R Narayanan.
The Presidential poll turned out to be a battle between two Dalits, Ram Nath Kovind and Meira Kumar. Kumar fought as a joint candidate of 17 opposition political parties.
Kovind, the former Bihar Governor, will succeed incumbent Pranab Mukherjee.
